Canning is something I look forward to and dread every summer. I have only canned 14 quarts so far and there is still a big box of ripening pears waiting for me in the mudroom. The sticky mess is unbelievable, but I keep thinking of how excited my boys are to see a can of these pears on the dinner table in the middle of winter! Wish me luck! (Oh, and Aunt Linda, I still haven't figured out how to place them in the jar as perfectly as you!) ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigTdFZU8QbuY81W_kIPN1qMv3pjO9mDolewhVW0RW2l9v-UejruWnWYTyxZ8fX1g_y4yH7WQzCNI-zzkGNwcaEheuycF2aabvX4DeSMVs1al-dsS51ZjTu4jef7f56rwEnkCtNSGCGp86k/s320/IMG_0329%5B1%5D)

Way to go! I am so lucky because my parents canned my peaches for me this year! It's a lot of work, but so rewarding, too. Sometimes I just go out to the laundry room and gaze at my neatly stacked jars :)
I am so excited for you and impressed! I have wanted to learn how to can for a long time. The harvest was fairly lean up here this year with a very cold summer but I am aiming for next year. I would love to fill you in on how we arrived in Alaska...if you would like to send me an email at egettmann@gmail.com I will send you back the story...too long for a blog comment :)
