a good family read

With the start of the new year BJ has been reading to our family the book, "Created for Work" by Bob Shultz.  Three or so times a week after dinner he will read a chapter and ask a few questions.  I would highly recommend this book for families with boys.  The back cover sums up the contents well...

"Modern culture seems addicted to ease and entertainment.
It has produced a generation of educated yet often dishonest, unproductive, and weak-willed men.  God desires higher standards for His people.  He is looking for young men who do not shy away from hard work, who are not afraid to get their hands dirty, who can follow directions, think creatively, respect authority, and happily complete their duties in a timely manner.  These are the ones He is training up to be future fathers, teachers, and Leaders. Created for Work inspires young men and offers the tools and encouragement they need to embrace God's ways and always give an honest day's work."

It is written in a way that is very interesting and engaging for boys of all ages....even the younger ones.  We highly recommend it!

Hey B.J. and Elaine . . . .I think my Mom had the "girl" version of that book. . . .much to MY dismay! But seriously, I learned so, so much from Mom whenever she'd take us to the church workdays, or to a needy neighbor who needed help, etc., my brother's and I learned to work hard, do our best (because Mom would check), later we learned any job done big or small was done as unto the Lord and we wanted to do our best for Him. Sounds like a great book!
