more yard work fun

Continuing the project started a few weeks earlier.....

Although I am waiting patiently for progress on our farm, I sure get excited to see projects started!

These 2 crack me up!  And we can't keep them away from the fruit on the ground.  I am constantly trading them a good apple or pear for the rotten one they picked themselves.  :)

Johnny wanted to run the rototiller so bad, and he actually handled it pretty well!

Vacation!

BJ took one of his vacation weeks to work on our many projects around our property.  Remember I decided to relax and enjoy the process of all our projects at this home? :) 

Our first project was to rip out the drywall in the barn and see if we could avoid tearing it down.  After the counsel of a few friends, we decided it wasn't worth repairing.

Can you guess which hand is mine and which one belongs to a 10 year old boy? 

If you know Jud, you could imagine this being his dream come true!  He had a blast hammering and beating on these walls of the barn.  :)

Another project was to tear down the big mounds of dirt outside the house.  We were so grateful to Mr. Shrock for loaning us his tractor to do the job.

And the final project....framing in a closet for the boys in our garage.  

So, as I was enjoying the mess and chaos all around me, BJ blessed me by mostly finishing this project!  He worked so hard and I was proud of the job he did. 

The top rack will have to be for seasonal clothing since it is soooo high up....even for a 6'4" man!

The barn was brought down this far and now will sit until we are ready to tackle the next stage.  I'm okay with it because the mess is contained, and it now looks like a giant old shed.  :)

Our Garden

We really miss having a garden.  Watching my boys fill my garden containers brought back a lot of memories.....times I really miss.  Last year's water trough garden was a flop.  We had bought terrible soil (it was wet when we bought it).  This year's garden was much better, although by the time I am posting this our tomatoes are a mess and should have been staked.  Watch out, next year it will be amazing! :)

Work Day!

Yesterday we took the boys to work around Grandma Carolla's property. My boys worked hard and I was proud.

J.R. really got into his job. I know the walking back and forth on uneven terrain was good for his legs.



Here is Jud dreaming about working with the big boys someday! :) I enjoyed visiting with Carolla and chasing Judson. He is a busy little guy...into everything!

I was glad the boys had a chance to work off some of their energy and use their muscles again. We do miss our home in Centralia...a place never lacking in outdoor chores for the boys. :) Our rental is very nice, but there is nothing for the boys to do here. (No garden to weed, no firewood to stack, no pinecones or rocks to pick up.) We are excited to get our Centralia home sold and invest ourselves into a place here. Probably with any move there are mixed emotions. Our new church family has been so loving and supportive, but it is always hard to leave friends behind. I have yet to meet another homeschool family in this county. We pray that the Lord will introduce us to other families that we can have fellowship with and even join up with for a few field trips. We know the Lord is in this move and will take care of us. This may sound a little trite, but at least we have each other.

Working hard

My crew + one worked hard spreading gravel on our driveway. Our neighbor, Travis, loves to do whatever my boys are doing. He even bought carhartts to match them!

We got a lot of looks when we walked into McDonald's with five boys wearing their carhartts! The boys would have enjoyed their icecream treat more if it wasn't for an arrest that was happening right outside the window. It was a good teachable moment, although it did make the boys a little nervous. :)
