And we're off.....
We left Walla Walla around 7am...later than we had planned, but getting eight children ready can be a little time consuming. I won't tell about the fun we had sleeping on a mattress on the floor in Amy and Isaac's basement knowing that mice might be visiting us. (BJ told me on the drive the next morning that he actually spotted one in the next room. - So glad the Freemans moved. :)A looong rest stop trying to get the CB's to work. The menfolk never did figure out the problem. We had to use creative signaling for all our many potty and nursing stops.
Growing up, the drive to Colorado was a common occurrence that holds the place of my most cherished childhood memories. I couldn't get enough of the landscape around us as we drove through the different states. I loved it then...and still love it now.
The kiddos were impressed by all the bugs. :)
The trip wouldn't be the same without a rest stop at Little America. You can't beat 50 cent icecream cones, souvenirs, and a chance to get your wiggles out on the playground.
Casa Bonita holds a special place in Amy's and my heart....even if the food tastes bad! Grandpa would take us there whenever we made the trip to Denver. The coolest thing about the restaurant is the cliff divers you watch while you are eating...

...and the warm sopapillas with honey.
